Brew cycle start button failure?

I have an Auber PID with pre-infusion. It worked well for 3 years but now it will not start the brew cycle when I press the start button. It controls the temperature just fine. Could it be the start button itself? An internal switch? I have an old Auber PID that was DOA (I missed out on a warranty claim because I procrastinated a year installing it) that might have the key part I need. Any advice?

Due to its compact design, it is very difficult to get access to the front panel and replace the front key. If you want to use the part from your previous controller to service this new controller, the difficulty will be doubled since you need to disassemble two controllers. If you have tools, you can try to open the controller housing and check inside at first.

Hello Kkane,

Thanks for your reply and info sheet. Do you have a hunch on what the failed component is? Is it the start button itself or an internal relay?
Yes, I've already opened the device and I'm not feeling too confident in being able to tease this complicated assembly apart, but having a target component would help. Thanks.

I guess the physical button switch could be bad. I'm not 100% sure, but if you like, you can try to replace that button switch at first.
