I see discussions at various sites about 'autotune', yet I see in the SYL-1512BT instruction v1.2 to NOT autotune and it is disabled. 
Can you clarify?  What is autotune and it is not allowed with the gaggia pid?

Auto-tune is a testing procedure, to calculate the optimized control settings (P, I and D) parameters based on your target temperature and based on your load. If a system optimized by a skilled control engineer is considered to have a score of 100, a score of 70 is considered to be good for auto-tune function. The current auto-tune methods on the market cannot match a best human tuned system. But it normally gives an acceptable result.
