PID Values Bouncing Sporadically

There is a Rancilio Silvia in my office that I use just about everyday now for the last 1.5 years. It has the PID kit on it and has worked wonderfully up until a few weeks ago. The temperature readout jumps around spontaneously from 190F to 174F to 225F back to 194F and so on. This happens at anything above 190F and usually happens as the temperature starts to settle out. I thought it was a faulty RTD so I replaced it, but the issue is still there. I checked all the wires to make sure they weren't shorted or wet, everything looks fine. I checked the back of the PID controller and all the screws to the wire terminals are fastened down tightly. I cannot figure out what the problem could be and I do not have a manual in order to troubleshoot it. Anyone have any ideas?

Did this controller work well before? If yes, considering your replaced your sensor already, your controller could be bad. Please contact Auber customer support for help.

yes, it worked great before! I actually just replaced the RTD sensor. So I contacted customer support and they are working with me to replace the controller.

Hi nbeyrer,

I'm having the exact same issue. What turned out to be the main issue? I'm trying to troubleshoot this myself.
Did replacing your controller fix the problem? I'd love to hear a follow up

thanks!

Hi jcSilvia,

Yes replacing the controller worked like a charm. It looks to be an updated controller too. I contacted them via email and they made the replacement process smooth, so definitely email them instead of ordering a new one outright. Good luck!

Oh wonderful. Thanks for the update. They're sending me a new controller and it has gone very smooth so far as well.

Thanks!
