Hello,

Can you please explain in specific and complete detail how the wifi app connects to the unit, and how the app's remote access feature works.  I'm looking for answers to such questions as:

1)  Does the unit itself communicate to a third party server to allow remote access outside of the local wifi network?
2)  Does the remote access go through a third party server continuously, or is it using a third party server to coordinate direct access from wifi app to the unit using upnp on the local firewall/router?
3)  What ports inbound and outbound are opened by upnp, if any.  What transport protocol is used.
4)  Starting from a completely locked down firewall, what ports and protocols need to be opened to allow remote access to the unit from outside the local wifi network.  What broadcast protocols are used between the app and the unit on local wifi.
5)  Can remote access be obtained without the use of a third party server, ie with port forwarding on a firewall.
6)  If the app and the unit are on different local subnets, what traffic needs to be allowed between subnets for everything to work.

Thank you for your help

Kkane

1). Yes, this controller will communicate a remote server, when your device is not in the same WIFI network with this controller.

2), 3), 4), 6). Please contact Auber support directly for help.

5). Your question is not clear. When this device is in the same WIFI network with the controller, it doesn't need to communicate with that remote server. Even the internet is not needed. If your want to obtain the remote access via internet (not intranet), without visiting the remote sever for this controller, the answer is no.
