I have a desire to hack the 2813 dual display or the 1813 mono display for remote processing like logging.  I know that I can get an analog output from the 1812RA which is linearised and thus very useful; however, it would be very useful to hack any serial data output from the microcontroller of the other instruments so that a serial sniffer can log the data without the noise of converting an analog output signal back to digital.  Such a serial data port also offers the possibility of converting to CANBUS.   I prefer not to buy an 1813 just to probe it's logic signals.  Is there any possibility to get a schematic of the instrument board and information about which data ports (serial or parallel for the LEDs) are active?   Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, the firmware of SYL-1813/SYL-2813 doesn't support serial communication.
