HI,

We recently acquired a still and it has a DSPR400 controller wired in. I have a concern about the RTD probe location and would like to know if it is optimal the way it is setup. The probe is on tri clover ferrule on top of the boiler. So the probe doesn't touch liquid unless the boiler is filled up to the max. Is it OK that way?

Thanks,

DSPR400 has two working modes. One is mashing mode, one is distilling mode. In mashing mode, user can adjust the mashing temperature based on the reading temperature. In distilling mode, user can manually adjust the power output. In distilling mode, the output is not automatically controlled by the reading temperature. Some users want to monitor the steam temperature, so they install the temperature probe on top of the boiler.

BTW can you show us some pictures for your setup and probe location?

Attached you'll find the boiler and probe location. You'll see the tri clover with the probe in it. This way it monitors vapour temps before the column and obviously the dephlegmator. So, is it good that way?
